Choosing School Subjects

by admin

There are many subjects that are taught at schools from the traditional numeracy and literacy through to the newer subjects such as Psychology and media. Whatever the subject the hope is that the information and skills obtained will help the student develop and aid them in their life’s path wherever this may take them. It seems strange that we work our whole life’s in teams and yet at school there may be a couple of token team building session through our school life. Should school team building be more of an integral subject? Would this aid people in the future to work more successfully in the workplace? With team building activities ranging from such simple ideas to the more complicated could such sessions be more regular thing and would the benefits out way the costs.

Animals on the move

by admin

We recently moved house to a new estate in the middle of Gloucester. We knew the area well as we used to live just around the corner some 10 years before. It was after we moved and were beginning to get settled in our new house tat one night we heard a scratching at the cat flap. We had locked it as we didn’t have any pets. On closer inspection it was a small white cat with a red collar. I had a quick look at it and much to my amazement it had our address and our new telephone number on it. I quickly realised that this must have been the old house owners cat. BT must have assigned us the old owners number and the cat owners must have not changed their cats collar tag. I asked some of the neighbours who were their friends if they could give them a call ad they were straight round to pick up Tilly! It got me thinking about how much a lost cat could devastate a family. Luckily this time it all worked out with a happy ending.

Old renovations

by admin

For the last year myself, and a team of builders have been lovingly restoring some old barns that I inherited some 7 years ago. The amount of hard work is certainly something that I underestimated; the other underestimation is the amount of decisions that I needed to make. Luckily I had my wife to help make many of these with me, but the questions that are continuously thrown at you, really do make you think, and also stress. Are we making the right decision is always on our minds? One such question was with regards to the main heating for the property. We had decided to have under floor heating downstairs but upstairs we wanted radiators. We knew that we wanted the ones like you would fine in the old schools and libraries, but we certainly didn’t know what they were called. After a few Google searched using pictures we discovered they were called column radiators. We found a great company called www.apolloradiators.co.uk and they fantastic at advising us in what we would need. Hopefully we will carry on with our conversion and the decision will get easier,  then I just have to worry about the size of the bills!
